Fretton’s Restaurant

Junction between Internal and External

Having heard about a small project of his near Tower Bridge when Tony Fretton’s gave his lecture at Kingston University I thought I’d pay it a visit when I was close.

I find the junction between internal and external space, whilst continuing to demarcate what is cafe and what is public very interesting. The metre wide paving slabs near that you can see in the image near the glass screen depict the position of an the original defence wall for the Tower of London. It remained in derelict condition until the 1980’s when it was knocked down to allow the area up the river to be refurbished.
